Newport Township Community Organization in Luzerne County, PA

  • NTCO, Weinberg Regional Food Bank and the Newport Township American Legion Auxiliary Unit 539 have been working together to host a Food Distribution in Newport Township.

    This event is held the 2nd Saturday of every month from 11 am to noon at Newport Township Municipal building.

  • The Beginning....

    In May 2004 the Newport Township Board of Commissioners met for their regular monthly meeting and a discussion took place on ways to revitalize the community.  Twenty people committed to help in this effort.  On May 17th a public meeting was held to seek additional resident input. As a result, the Newport Township Community Organization was formed.

    It continues as an independent, 501(c)3 not-for-profit, public charity organization which is led by a dedicated, hardworking group of concerned Newport Township Citizens.  New members are welcomed to join and encouraged to help the cause.

Our Local Police Force continues to prosecute and fine illegal dumpers.
The Dept. of Environmental Protection fine is $25,000 to illegal dumpers.  DEP’s hotline to report illegal dumping is 1-866-255-5158. We continue to monitor illegal dumping throughout the Township.
